Advice on Price

Postby Carloss » Sun Feb 13, 2011 5:44 pm

Hi,

I have inherited 2 Classic Bikes; a BSA Shooting Star and a Matchless. They have been fully restored and used to run perfectly as the previous owner used to visit bike rallies regularly.

However, they have been sat under dust sheets for 3 years, therefore in need of a little TLC to bring them back to life.

My intention is to sell them but I have no idea how much these bikes would fetch, or whether it's worth getting them up and running first.

The bikes are:

1957 BSA Shooting Star, 500 twin - fully restored and in very good condition.

Looks similar to the one in this photo

1954 AJS Matchless 16MS - 350 Single - fully restored and in good to very good condition (it's been used more than the BSA).

Any advice/prices would be gratefully received.

Regards

Carloss

Both good bikes, but without knowing where in the world you are, they're hard to price.

get them running with MOT and free tax on them ( both should be pre 1873 registered if they are on original reg plate)
then try selling through Classic Motorcycle, Classic Bike or Old Bike Mart Mags, have a check through the Mags first to get an idea of what prices similer models are fetching first.
