Made a change to registration

Postby Welsh Wizard » Wed Sep 14, 2011 12:47 am

Changed registration so Admin has to clear new registration, see if this slows down the spammer.
Can be set back to as it was if any admin objects.

Doc is some thing wrong with the bord settings?
Just looked at new user,
We have 3 new listed from the 18th Sept, but we have had no e-mail to check them out,

e-mails that have come up
traillsendenterprises@gmail.com for user traillsend looks iffy
gillpullinger@talktalk.net for user Pullinger looks good
fedegalup@hotmail.com for user fedgalu ??????????

from the 17th
mario@reisenhofer.info for user winespectator not happy with the IP
malsrule@optusnet.com.au for user delvec
kingd004@mail.maricopa.gov for user KingTR6 looks legit
pardeshidharmesh@yahoo.co.in for user pardeshidharmesh looks legit
mallen3597@wowway.com for user mallen3597 looks legit

and the others seem to all right from the 17th , so who is ativating them as no e-mails requesting activation?

I have not approved anyone since WW changed the registration and also not received any emails from yesterday just a couple during the week.

I suspect it's linked to the registration on the main site, http://classic-motorbikes.net/register.php, when admin set up the site when a user registers on the main site then they are also added to the forum. I suspect the emails we have received during the week are for users who have registered directly on the forum. I'm pretty sure users are unaware of this.

The domrnat forum users will be 'cleansed' when I clear the database so as long as we monitor the emails we all receive then I think we're ok.

Does everyone receive the same e-mail or are they split up between the admins?
