Pictures needed

The best years of Sunbeam were in their early years. They built up a tremendous reputation for quality and finish and this eventually led to the downfall of the firm. By 1928 Sunbeam had become part of the ICI combine but did not add very much to group profits so in came the accountants and much of the tradition had to go. More parts were bought in and slowly some of the quality began to evaporate. However, the Model 90 of 493cc was still based on the 1929 TT winning machine and had an enthusiastic following and was superseded in 1933 by the model 95.

Not a Sunbeam as such.
I saw this "Sunbeam engine parts" on the bay of e and couldn't resist.
it's a 32 lion engine minus cams and rockers[the missing bit of that word is there in the edit window!]. anyone with a likely frame to house it let me know and box and wheels and tank and and and .

This isn't ours but a friend lent it to Jon for a while. It's a 1927 500cc sidevalve. Hope you like the pic.

Yes, it's very nice, but why didn't someone save that poor old girl from the surrounding BSAs? There's only so much indignity a proud old 'Beam should have to suffer.. :206

All part of the BSA code, and seeing as the Sunbeams were owned by BSA in the end they are just BSA rejects under another badge monkey

Read an article on the Lions, they were factory made with high quality control. Apparently paint jobs were not a number of layers but painted until a perfect finish was achieved. A gentleman's bike in it's day at upper end of market prices. Biggest production was 2500 in one year. Tall stroked they loped along quite well, with very quiet motors. Won a few races in their day as well. Best ones were pre 1930 as then quality dropped with a takeover.
