1955 Ariel Twin 500cc, any help welcome!

The name Ariel was used by Shakespeare in his play "The Tempest". He used the name to describe his airy spirit, loosely based upon the Roman messenger of the Gods, Mercury. Just why the Ariel concern should come to adopt the name of a Shakespeare character, is a complex story.

hello,

first off...i'm a complete bike novice! Righty, i'm looking to tap into yopur fountain of knowledge! I know very little about this bike, it has belonged to my grandad since new when he bought it in 1955 and was lovingly restored about 7 or 8 years ago (still runs on 4star LRP). apart from the fact it's an Ariel Twin (1955) 500cc I know nothing about it. could anyone give me anymore info about it or where i may be able to find some good sources of information and ultimately a place to sell such an item as my grandads detierating health means he wants to get rid of it
