TP Engine Number

Like many of the Coventry makes, Triumph had their roots in the bicycle industry, beginning motorcycle production in 1902.

TP Engine Number

Postby slippyroad » Mon Mar 25, 2013 8:33 am

I recently acquired a 1958 Triumph Twenty One, the engine number seems odd, it is stamped 3TA TP125, has anybody an idea what the TP means, ex police or something??

Any help is much appreciated. Dave

Think you'll find that "T" is a badly stamped "H" though whether the "P" is really a P or another letter ("8" maybe?) I couldn't say.
So the number could originally have been "3TA H8XXX" which would have been a 1958 model. Sound likely?
