Yamaha CT1 175cc Magneto Question

Postby Formegolf » Tue Nov 13, 2012 4:22 pm

Hello Everyone!
I was wondering how many amps or voltage does a 73 Yamaha CT1 175cc Magneto produce? Asking because is it suppose to supply enough to illuminate all the lights? (Headlight, rear, turn signals, etc.) My bike was dismantled and is missing the battery and rectifier.

Thank you and have a great day everyone!

It's 6V, and I'm pretty sure Yamaha knew enough about bike design back then to sell it with working lights etc. Get yourself a manual and a parts book (if available), fit what Yam fitted and you won't go far wrong..

Thank you Tman. I have now a Honda CB125S that I can mimic a little and try and put things back the way they came. I do have a manual so I will muster around with it. Thanks again Tman and have a great day!

Should be 6v but as for the lights them selves if you can see more than 40 yards in the dark with the head light on you will be lucky, until the mid 70's Jap lighting was a joke, ( in fact on some of the bikes now it is still a joke mainly on the dual purpose bikes)
As Tman states get a manual if available a Haynes one avoid Clima and the factory Yamaha ones unless you are a pretty good mechanic.

and they're renowned for easy starting anyway.
I have new-found respect for the racers from the 1930s though; next-to-no suspension and with a sharp engine must have taken some nuts back on the roads of the time.
