Then you have some kind of short cct some place. If it was me I'd simple rewire it with a replacement harness as a new main harness probably costs less than the components required to make one... Alternatively start disconnecting things and see if that solves the problem.

Take a good look inside the headlight and at the ampmeter as its hard wired into the charge circuit (from memory).

Check for contacts to earth (chassis) or disconnected live wires touching bare metal.
